FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter received a visit from Nicaragua Football Association President Julio Rocha Lopez at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday, and during the meeting he was handed a letter from Nicaragua’s Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.

The letter thanked FIFA for its help in developing Nicaraguan football, with the Goal Programme having facilitated the construction of a technical centre in Diriamba and a stadium in Managua, plus its expansion a few years later, while also financing a long-term training project for youngsters.

Source of motivation
In addition, like all other FIFA member associations Nicaragua benefits every year from the Financial Assistance Programme (FAP), which makes it possible to organise development programmes that meet each country’s needs and strengthen both football and its administration in the long term. Through the FAP, FIFA offers financial assistance and technical advice to help out with those very specific objectives.

The letter underlined how FIFA’s development work via the FAP has made it possible to build a stadium, which now represents a considerable source of motivation for young people and the population in general.
