Fujifilm today announced its involvement as an Official Partner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. FIFA and Fujifilm - a long-time Official Partner of the FIFA World Cup™ - set the seal on the agreement at Fujifilm’s corporate headquarters in Tokyo.

Fujifilm’s product category includes photographic films, digital cameras, as well as image processing systems and services. Besides the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, the partnership with FIFA includes the FIFA World Youth Championship 2003 and 2005, the FIFA Confederations Cup 2003 and 2005, the FIFA U-17 Championship 2003 and 2005 and the FIFA Women's World Cup China PR 2003. In addition to Fujifilm, the following groups are Official Partners of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ - adidas, Avaya, Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Continental, Deutsche Telekom, Emirates, Gillette, Hyundai, McDonald’s, Philips, Toshiba and Yahoo! One remaining sponsorship deal is to be announced shortly.

Fujifilm’s involvement as an Official Partner of the FIFA World Cup™ goes back over 20 years. The company first became an Official Partner at the 1982 FIFA World Cup™ held in Spain. Fujifilm, which has won numerous awards for its outstanding products, acted as the “Official Imaging Sponsor” during the 2002 FIFA World Cup™.

“A photograph says more than a thousand words and captures history in a split second. Without images, our history would be mere hearsay,” said FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter. “Fujifilm has made the day-to-day work of the hundreds of photographers accredited for the world’s number one sporting event much simpler by providing a service beyond compare. By opting to pursue the partnership that has bound us for the last 20 years, Fujifilm has once again shown its faith in FIFA,” he added.
