Upon receiving the relevant file from UEFA, FIFA has adopted the judgement pronounced by the European confederation on 10 April against the former FIFA referee, Kurt Röthlisberger (Switzerland), in compliance with Chapter V of the FIFA List of Disciplinary Measures, and extended it to have worldwide implementation. Röthlisberger is therefore permanently banned from all official activity within FIFA or any of its member associations.

FIFA is also looking into the allegations of bribery in connection with the World Cup qualifying match played in Berne on 10 November 1996 between Switzerland and Norway and will be launching an enquiry through its Disciplinary Committee for this purpose.

Until the results of the investigation are known, no further information will be released.
