FIFA has noted with disappointment the decision taken by the European Court of Justice regarding the case of Jean-Marc Bosman.

FIFA points out that the decision affects only 18 of the 193 national associations affiliated to the world body. The current transfer system is based upon the Statutes and Regulations which have been duly approved by all the FIFA member associations and has proved to be effective, and is therefore not cast into doubt by today's decision.

FIFA will study what adaptations UEFA may need to consider as far as the 18affected European associations (of a total UEFA membership of 50) are concerned.
