Liverpool’s Billy Liddell in 1951. A pacy left-winger with a vicious shot, the Scotland international turned in an admirable performance in a pulsating 4-4 draw with Manchester United in Round 2 of the 1953/54 First Division, though that season ended for the Reds in relegation to the second flight. Liddell represented Liverpool, his only club, for 23 years from 1938 and is considered one of the greatest players in their illustrious history.
