Le Roy extends Oman stay
Frenchman Claude Le Roy said Sunday that he had extended his deal as Oman coach through to 2014, just ahead of this month's Gulf Cup.
"It's incredible - they extended my contract a few hours ahead of the Gulf Cup kickoff (Oman were facing Kuwait in Sunday's opener)," said Le Roy, who only took the job in July. "We have struck a deal for another five years through to 2014, but things are clear - if we are eliminated on the way to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil then the contract will expire," the Frenchman added.
Oman, finalist in the 2004 and 2007 Gulf Cups, did not qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.
Le Roy has previously coached Ghana, Cameroon - whom he led to the 1988 CAF Africa Cup of Nations - while other posts included a spell as Malaysian handler and club coach at China's Shanghai Cosco.
