Pato or Bojan? You decide...
Brazil's Alexandre Pato and Bojan of Spain did not figure in the respective conquests of the Copa America 2007 and UEFA EURO 2008. But A Seleção and La Roja are not basking in the glory of their continental triumphs.
Instead, they are plotting assaults on next year's FIFA Confederations Cup and 19th edition of the FIFA World Cup™, and these two teenage forwards are certain to be in the thoughts of coaches Dunga and Vicente Del Bosque. Just days after the Official Draw for South Africa 2009 separated Brazil and Spain, FIFA.com is asking you to split Alexandre Pato and Bojan by deciding which you regard as the better player.
Alexandre Pato's career took off at meteoric speed. On only his second appearance for Internacional, he scored in a 2-1 win over Al Ahly in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2006, which they went on to win. The 19-year-old has not disappointed since a high-profile switch to AC Milan, dazzling in the perennially tough Italian Serie A, and he also scored on his debut for Brazil.
Bojan, meanwhile, shot to prominence at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Korea 2007, where he helped Spain finish as runners-up and pocketed the adidas Bronze Ball in the process. Thereafter, he made a grand impression in Barcelona's star-studded team and, in February, was included in the Spain squad just five months after his 17th birthday. Bojan didn't play on that occasion and was excused from EURO 2008, but the 18-year-old did make his senior international bow in September.
