Nigeria coach Berti Vogts admitted on Saturday that his future is in doubt just two weeks before the start of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
Vogts blamed delays in paying salaries as one of the reasons he was considering quitting the post he took over last March.
"There have been delays in paying salaries. It would be
good if the money was paid promptly," he said. "I love
Africa, but I don't know for how long more I can put up with
these problems."
The former Germany and Scotland boss revealed that he had
been close to "throwing in the towel" several times.
The 61-year-old Vogts nevertheless praised his team stating it was "a pleasure to work with players of such quality.
"Something special has been built between them and me, it's what motivates me to continue my work despite the difficulties.
"If football in Nigeria was organised as in Germany the team would be unbeatable. Even Brazil would have to watch out for Nigeria."
