USA will try to win for the first time on Mexican soil when the Central American rivals meet on 9 September in a friendly in Mexico City, the US Soccer Federation said on Wednesday.

The first USA friendly in Mexico since 1984 follows the Stars and Stripes' 2-1 triumph at the CONCACAF Gold Cup final in June and a 2-0 victory in a February friendly in Phoenix.

"The distinctive challenges of playing away against Mexico present another valuable opportunity to advance our program," USA coach Bob Bradley said.

USA, coming off three losses at Copa America Venezuela 2007, will return to the field on 22 August in a friendly at Sweden.
