Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has withdrawn from the Côte d'Ivoire squad to face Guinea on Wednesday.

Drogba, who missed a penalty in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this month, will not be joining club-mate Salomon Kalou at the game in Abidjan due to a knee injury.

A club statement, released on www.chelseafc.com, read: "As a result of an injury suffered to his right knee in the game against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, the forward (Drogba) will not be linking up with the Côte d'Ivoire and will receive treatment at Cobham over the coming week, where Chelsea medical staff will monitor his progress."
