Landon Donovan is the highest-profile of three withdrawals from the USA team to face Italy on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Galaxy forward, who enjoyed a successful second loan spell with English Premier League side Everton in the Major League Soccer off-season, is suffering from bronchitis and will miss the match in Genoa.

Nurnberg defender Timmy Chandler and Pachuca midfielder Jose Torres have also been forced out, both by hamstring injuries.

Coach Jurgen Klinsmann has called up FC Dallas winger Brek Shea and Anderlecht midfielder Sacha Kljestan to his squad following the withdrawals, with further additions still possible ahead of the game.
