Andres Guardado scored the only goal as Mexico edged past Chile in an international friendly played in Barcelona on Sunday.
The Deportivo La Coruna winger curled home a free-kick with 11 minutes to go to settle a low-key encounter played at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat, the home of Espanyol.
A raft of second-half substitutions improved the fare on show after a poor opening half. Guardado, who was himself a replacement, scored what proved to be the winner from 20 yards after Pablo Barrera was fouled on the edge of the area.
