Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier against Moldova on Friday because of injury.

The AC Milan striker has been troubled by foot and ankle problems for several weeks and national team coach Erik Hamren deemed it too risky for the player to travel to Chisinau tomorrow.

Ibrahimovic will now stay in Sweden for treatment in a bid to be fit for next week's qualifier at home to neighbours Finland.

"If Zlatan were to play on Friday, we would have wanted to see his foot better today," Hamren said. "That's not the case so we've had a chat about it together. There's a risk of a setback if he plays on Friday and then both qualifiers would be in danger."

Sweden lie second in qualifying Group E, nine points behind leaders Netherlands but with two games in hand.
