Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has handed maiden call-ups to young goalkeeping duo Tim Krul and Jasper Cillessen.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Krul, 23, and 22-year-old Cillessen, of NEC Nijmegen, have been drafted in for next month's South American double-header against Brazil and Uruguay.

With first-choice goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg recovering from a broken thumb, Van Marwijk will use the friendlies to run the rule over his long-term back-up options.

There was no place in the 23-man selection for captain Mark van Bommel, with the AC Milan midfielder slated to undergo surgery on his right leg.

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Rafael van der Vaart misses out due to a calf problem, while Theo Janssen, Jeremain Lens, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Ron Vlaar were also omitted.

The Dutch meet Brazil in Goiania on 4 June before facing Uruguay in Montevideo four days later in a repeat of last year's FIFA World Cup™ semi-final, which the Dutch won 3-2.
