Goals by Milan Baros and Michal Kadlec guided the Czech Republic to a 2-0 victory over Liechtenstein in their UEFA EURO 2012 qualification match as they moved to within three points of Spain at the top of Group I.

Baros opened the scoring in the third minute with a right-footed shot before the hosts were eventually rewarded for their superiority when Kadlec headed home with 20 minutes to go.

The result sees Michal Bilek's side close the gap on leaders Spain, although the world champions have played a game fewer, but leaves Liechtenstein rooted to the bottom of the group without a point.

The hosts made an ideal start, Baros slotting home Tomas Rosicky's left-wing cross. They almost doubled the lead in the tenth minute when visiting goalkeeper Peter Jehle saved from David Lafata.

Jan Moravek hit the bar with a right-footed shot before Jehle was called upon again, tipping Lafata's shot round the post.

Zdenek Pospech twice tested Jehle before the visitors finally forced home goalkeeper Petr Cech into action as he tipped Philippe Erne's shot round the post.

Jehle was regularly in the thick of the action but the hosts could not make their dominance pay and they were grateful to Cech when he saved from David Hasler.

Baros hit the post as the Czechs continued to attack but just a minute later they sealed the win when Kadlec headed home Jaroslav Plasil's cross from the left.
