Rwanda to host home-based tournament
Rwanda will host the 2016 African Nations Championship, continental govering body CAF announced Saturday after an executive committee meeting in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Nations Championship is restricted to home-based footballers and Sudan will stage the second edition between 4-25 February after Ivory Coast hosted the inaugural tournament two years ago.
Sudan will be followed by Libya in 2014 and Rwanda, whose hosting of the 2011 African junior championship and the African youth championship two years ago was lauded by Confederation of African Football president Issa Hayatou.
The CAF meeting ahead of the African Super Cup game between local club TP Mazembe and FUS Rabat from Morocco also selected Morocco as 2013 junior championship hosts.
