Malaysia reached the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup after holding out for a goalless draw in the second leg of their semi-final against Vietnam to progress 2-0 on aggregate.
The hosts dominated much of the game at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi but were unable to breach a determined Malaysian backline, who had little incentive to attack given their first-leg cushion.
Vietnam's misery was compounded in the 72nd minute when Pham Thanh Luong was dismissed for a second bookable offence as they crashed out at the last-four stage.
