China warmed up for next month's Asian Cup with a comfortable 3-0 over Estonia today in an international friendly played at China's Zhuhai Stadium.

Du Wei, Yu Hai and Yang Xu netted the goals in a 20-minute period in the first half. Du opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he headed in Deng Zhuoxiang's corner. Yu then doubled the advantage almost immediately, steering Qu Bo's cross past goalkeeper Pavel Londak.

The result was satisfactory but my players still failed to play fluid football in attack owing to a lack of stamina.
Gao Hongbo, China coach

Yang scored the third eight minutes before the break, latching onto Rong Hao's cross before slotting the ball beyond Londak. China coach Gao Hongbo made a number of substitutions in the second half but the home side were unable to extend their lead despite plenty of endeavour.

"I want to give credit to Yang Xu for his superb play today," Gao said. "He proved to be a fine link man in midfield to help our side menace the opposing defence."

China have been drawn with hosts Qatar, Kuwait and Uzbekistan in Group A of the Asian Cup and Gao attached great importance to the win over a European side which plays a similar style of football to Uzbekistan.

"The result was satisfactory but my players still failed to play fluid football in attack owing to a lack of stamina," he added. "Yet I am happy that my players displayed their fighting spirit in this game."
