Michel takes charge at Equatorial Guinea
Former France coach Henri Michel has signed a 13-month contract to coach Equatorial Guinea, co-hosts of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
Michel put pen to paper on a deal which many thought would have gone to compatriot Philippe Troussier, who had been in negotiations with the country's football authorities.
"The duration of Michel's contract is 13 months, until just after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (which is being co-hosted by Gabon)," said minister of sport Ruslan Obiang.
"My ambition is to see a successful organisation of the Africa Cup of Nations and the challenge is to create a solid team," said Michel, who has replaced Paraguayen Carlos Lobo Diarte at the helm.
