Kuwait beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 at 22 May Stadium in Aden today to lift the Gulf Cup. It was the 10th title in the history of the competition for Kuwait, who went through the tournament unbeaten.
Saudi Arabia suffered their second-successive final loss having missed out on the trophy to Oman last year.
Neither side could score over 90 minutes, taking the match into extra-time, and Kuwait struck four minutes into the additional half-hour with Walied Ali finding the top-right corner with his powerful drive from outside the area.
Saudi Arabia tried to get back into the match but the dismissal of Mohannad Asiri for a second yellow card eight minutes from time put paid to their chances.
