Elias Hernandez pounced on a late mistake by Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina to earn Mexico a 1-0 win in Monterrey.

El Tri attacked from the off and had their first chance in the tenth minute, when an Andres Guardado free-kick was well saved. In the 25th minute, a shot by Giovani Dos Santos came back off the bar and Javier Hernandez could not connect with the rebound.

After the break Dos Santos had one other chance from a cross by Elias Hernandez.

The match was heading for a draw when Mario Yepes fouled Carlos Vela just outside the box. Enrique Esqueda took the free-kick and the Colombian keeper failed to hold the ball, allowing Elias Hernandez to pounce for the only goal of the game.

It was the first win for Mexico since the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, after a 1-1 draw with Spain and last Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Ecuador.

Fedor, Fernandez head home winners
Nicolas Fedor scored with only four minutes to go to give Venezuela a victory over Ecuador in Caracas.

The hosts, who had lost their last two friendlies, showed some good movement and created several goal chances. Fedor had an early shot before Quiroz sent the ball just over the bar.

Venezuela's keeper Dani Hernandez also had a good first half, saving three clear chances from the Ecuadorians. After the break, Getafe's Fedor wasted a chance when in front of the visitors' keeper, and later Salomon Rondon headed wide. Finally, in the 86th minute, Fedor headed home the winner.

In Jamaica, Peru claimed a 2-1 win over the Reggae Boyz. An own goal by Demar Phillips put the visitors ahead only three minutes into the game, but in the 20th minutes Omar Cummings equalised.

Jamaica improved and came close to going ahead but they wasted a couple of good chances. In the 83rd minute, Jose Fernandez - who had came off the bench only six minutes earlier - headed in a cross from Juan Vargas for the winner.
