Injured Kewell to miss Australia friendlies
Kewell heads a list of three players to miss the away games, along with lanky striker Josh Kennedy and defender Michael Beauchamp, who respectively have back and ankle problems.
Injury-prone Kewell, 31, played just 25 minutes for Australia during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and recently had a televised bust-up with ex-Socceroos team-mate Robbie Slater who suggested he step down from national duty.
Australia are building towards January's AFC Asian Cup in Qatar, where they will be among the favourites, and the country is bidding to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
Ex-Liverpool star Kewell is now at Turkey's Galatasaray while Kennedy plays for Nagoya Grampus in Japan and Beauchamp turns out for new A-League club Melbourne Heart. Osieck is still considering calling up a third replacement player.
