Kuwait inch top of qualifiers
Budi Sudarsono opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time to put the hosts ahead after latching onto a fine pass from Bambang Pamungkas. But the hosts' task was made harder when defender Ismed Sofian was sent off in the first minute of the second half after being shown his second yellow card.
Kuwait finally grabbed an equaliser in the 72nd minute when Ahmad Ajab pounced to fire home in a goalmouth scramble. The point means Kuwait move level on points with Australia but top by virtue of a better head-to-head record.
Indonesia, meanwhile, remain bottom of the standings still searching for their first win after four games. Kuwait coach Goran Tufegdzic was disappointed his side could not take away three points from the match.
"Indonesia played very well," he said. "But my team is to blame for not scoring more as we had several chances to claim all three points."
