Berti Vogts has extended his contract as coach of Azerbaijan for a further two years.

The 62-year-old former Germany boss, who took up the position in March last year, guided Azerbaijan to one win and two draws from their 10 qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

A statement on the official website of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) read: "AFFA president Rovnag Abdullayev has met Azerbaijan national team head coach Berti Vogts and heard his report on the work done and also on forthcoming plans.

"After discussions it has been decided to extend the contract with Berti Vogts two years."
