Tim Cahill has been named in the Australia squad to face Oman in an AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualifier.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has endured a heavy workload lately, having played in all but two of Everton's matches this season and been a regular for the Socceroos during their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™
qualification campaign.
However, but Australia coach Pim Verbeek has decided to name him in his 23-man squad for the Oman match on 14 November.
Cahill's Everton team-mate Lucas Neill has also been called up, along with Blackburn Rovers' Brett Emerton and Fulham's Mark Schwarzer.
There was no place in the squad, however, for Celtic striker Scott McDonald, who has failed to score for Australia in the 15 matches he has played for his country.
Australia and Oman both have four points in Group B of the Asian Cup qualifiers, one point ahead of Kuwait and Indonesia. The top two teams from the pool will progress to the finals in Qatar.
