Bochum's Iranian striker Vahid Hashemian has retired from international football.

The 32-year-old former Hamburg, Bayern Munich and Hannover frontman scored 13 times in 50 appearances for Iran and representing his country at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.

Following the draw with Korea Republic that ended Iran's hopes of advancing to the World Cup finals, Mehdi Mahdavikia and Ali Karimi also retired from international football.
