Scottish Premier League club Dundee United signed Sunderland striker Roy O'Donovan on a season-long loan on Friday.
O'Donovan, 22, joined Sunderland from Cork City last year but only made four starts for Roy Keane's side.
United manager Craig Levein said: "I tried to obtain him on loan last season and am absolutely delighted to eventually get him to Tannadice.
"He is a very direct player with lots of pace and is a natural and proven goalscorer. Although he can play wide right and midfield, I see him as a striker and I'm sure he'll be a big success in the SPL."
