Spanish coach Luis Aragones has signed a pre-contract with Fenerbahce and is expected in Istanbul later today, the Turkish giants have revealed. The 69-year-old, who led Spain to UEFA EURO 2008 glory, is set to join the team on Sunday when they will fly to Austria for a training camp.

A date for the signing ceremony of the final contract will be announced later, added a statement on the club's official website. Fenerbahce had first announced a two-year pre-contract with Aragones on 25 June, but the coach denied the deal.

Aragones became the oldest coach to win the European crown when Spain beat Germany 1-0 on Sunday. Back in the early days of La Furia Roja's early qualifying campaign for EURO 2008 Aragones had tendered his resignation after back-to-back defeats by Northern Ireland and Sweden.

A former Spanish international, he guided several major La Liga clubs before becoming the national team coach in 2004. At Fenerbahce, Aragones will replace the Brazilian Zico, who joined the club on a two-year contract in July 2006 and led them to the Turkish league title in their centenary year of 2007.
