Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder denied on Wednesday that he would be moving to UEFA Champions League holders Manchester United as a makeweight in the deal taking Cristiano Ronaldo to the Spanish champions.

The 24-year-old Real Madrid playmaker said whilst he was flattered to be linked to United, there was only one team he wanted to play for.

"I want to cut short the rumours about me going to Manchester...even if I am flattered," said Sneijder, who was oustanding as Holland reached the Euro 2008 quarter-finals where they lost to Russia.

"As I have already said, my ambition when I left Ajax (last summer) was to join Real, the best club in the world.

"Now I am there, I'm going to stay: I want to win numerous titles and wear their shirt for as long as possible"

Sneijder, who scored two goals at UEFA EURO 2008, said he would welcome it if as expected Ronaldo comes to Real, for a reported 80-85million euros.
