Webster completes Rangers switch
Scotland defender Andrew Webster on Monday completed a permanent move to Rangers from Wigan Athletic.
The 26-year-old has been on loan at Ibrox since January 2007, just five months after joining the Premier League club. Previously, Webster made transfer history by using FIFA legislation to terminate his contract at Hearts to move to Wigan.
Webster made four appearances in the Premier League for Wigan before moving to Rangers on loan. Webster has signed a contract that will keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2011.
A succession of injuries has halted his progress and he underwent a hernia operation three weeks ago. Injuries have restricted him to just one first-team game for Rangers but his move from Wigan became a formality when the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled on his case on 30 January.
The Swiss-based court set a £150,000 compensation fee to Hearts, allowing Wigan to pay for the transfer and then seek a permanent deal with Rangers.
