Coaches, players, teams... the 2007/08 European season has been awash with surprises. FIFA.com would now like to which you consider the pick of them.
Alessandro Del Piero was not expected to claim his first-ever Capocannoniere award, and the names of Scott McDonald, Dani Guiza and Marko Devic atop of the goal charts in Scotland, Spain and the Ukraine caused a stir. Perhaps the biggest shock for you was the impact made by a non-forward, a teenage novice or a player whose best days were thought to be behind him?
Few predicted Standard Liege, Slavia Prague and Cluj would be crowned in Belgium, Czech Republic and Romania respectively, while Villarreal (second in Spain), NAC Breda and Vitoria Guimaraes (third in the Netherlands and Portugal), and Nancy and Sivasspor (fourth in France and Turkey) were all considered to have overachieved. Do you consider an underdog avoiding the drop, or even a big club slipping through the relegation trapdoor, a greater surprise?
So, it's over to you. Which coaches, players and teams proved the biggest surprises of the 2007/08 season in Europe, be it by exceeding or failing to live up to expectations?
