Unhappy Barcelona fans and 'socios' showed that they don't just hold coach Frank Rijkaard responsible for the club's downturn in fortunes with president Joan Laporta on the receiving end of a hostile reception in Barca's home match with Osasuna on Sunday.

Laporta, Barca president since 2003, was subjected to waving handkerchieves, jeers and cries of 'Barca yes! Laporta No!' In contrast Rijkaard was cheered in what will be his final match at Camp Nou with reserve team coach Pep Guardiola confirmed as his successor for next season.

Rijkaard, a world-class player with AC Milan, admitted he did not know what sort of reception he would receive after a difficult season. "If people want to applaud, they must applaud the club and all the players, but it is a difficult time, we have not achieved what we wanted, and if there are whistles, they will also be for me because I am part of the group," Rijkaard said.

Banners of 'Rijkaard thanks for everything' expressed the gratitude for Rijkaard's two league titles and UEFA Champions League success during his five-year tenure.
