Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Martin Jol could be set to replace compatriot Huub Stevens as coach of Bundesliga side Hamburg, according to reports in the German press on Tuesday.
Jol, 52, left Spurs in October last year and according to German tabloid Bild, he is negotiating the terms of his contract with Hamburg. The club, however, refused to comment on the reports.
Fourth in the Bundesliga, Hamburg are chasing a UEFA Champions League place and have been looking for a coach for next season since November, when Stevens announced he was going to coach PSV Eindhoven next season.
So far, Hamburg have approached a string of coaches including former Liverpool gaffer Gerard Houllier, who is currently working for the French Football Federation.
