Rohan Ricketts, formerly of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, signed for Toronto FC of Major League Soccer on Friday.

The 25-year-old made the move after being freed of contract obligations with Barnsley of the English Championship.

"He has come in here and impressed the coaches and by getting him we've instantly added more quality depth for our team," Toronto manager Mo Johnston said.

"He possesses a great ability to get by players, and will be another exciting player for our fans to watch."

Toronto also released forward Collin Samuel, 26, who played in the team's debut season last year after completing his contract at Dundee United. He scored three goals in 19 starts with Toronto last year.
