Bolton manager Gary Megson insists Chelsea have yet to make an offer for Nicolas Anelka.

The France striker claimed this week that Bolton had already opened negotiations with Chelsea over a deal that would see him move to Stamford Bridge for around £10 million.

Chelsea need a forward to cover for injured star Didier Drogba and Anelka, who has scored 11 times this season, would fit the bill for Blues manager Avram Grant.

But Megson is adamant there has been no contact from Chelsea since the transfer window opened on New Year's Day.

"In terms of Chelsea making contact I am not aware of that or any other club making contact," he said.

"I am aware of the speculation and have seen the article. But Nic did say if nothing happens he is happy at Bolton.

"It is something and nothing. We will just keep going and try to deal with the speculation that surrounds him."
