Diego Simeone was named the new coach of Argentinian side River Plate on Saturday. Simeone takes over from Daniel Passarella, who quit in November.

The 37-year-old played club football for Sevilla and Atletico Madrid in Spain and for Inter Milan and Lazio in Rome, and was a long-time regular in the Argentina side.

Simeone has previously bossed Racing Club and Estudiantes.
