Jamaica's Harbour View FC qualified for the 2008 CONCACAF Champions Cup after beating hosts and favourites Joe Public of Trinidad and Tobago 2-1 in the final of the Caribbean Club Championship on Friday.

The final at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya started poorly for the Kingston-based side and former club of English Premier League standout Ricardo Gardner, with Kerry Baptiste netting a superb goal for the reigning Trinidadian top flight champions after only 16 minutes.

Undeterred by the early setback, Jamaican international Fabian Taylor equalised just five minutes later and only two minutes after that, Kavin Bryan put Harbour View in front with a well-taken effort.

Harbour View managed to hang on in the second half despite being reduced to ten men with 35 minutes left to play following Christopher Harvey's dismissal. The win is Harbour View's second Caribbean club title (their first coming in 2004) and their appearance in next year's CONCACAF Champions Cup will be their second. They reached the quarter-finals in 2005.

Head coach Lenworth Hyde's Harbour View FC will join defending CONCACAF champions Pachuca of Mexico, DC United, recently-crowned MLS champions Houston Dynamo, Motagua of Honduras, Costa Rica's Saprissa and one more Central American participant yet to be determined at the 2008 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

This year's champions Pachuca will kick-off their FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2007 campaign against African champions Etoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia on 9 December.
