Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich will have striker Miroslav Klose back alongside Luca Toni as the league's most dangerous partnership unleash their combined talents on struggling VfL Bochum side this weekend.
Klose, 29, has been out of action for three weeks with a knee injury, but between him and Italian Toni, the pair have already scored an impressive 16 goals between them after just ten league games.
Just four places from the bottom, Saturday's hosts Bochum are winless from their last six games while Bayern will be hunting their eighth league win as domestic action resumes following the UEFA EURO 2008 qualifiers.
Bochum's Danish striker Tommy Bechmann has already managed four league goals of his own this season, but the Klose-Toni double-act - imported for 23 million euros this summer - will be an even tougher attack to keep in check.
German international striker Jan Schlaudraff is fighting to break into the Bayern first team after a back operation, but says the world-class pairing of Klose and Toni are a sizeable obstacle. "Let me be clear about this: they absolutely deserve to play, they've both been superb," said Schlaudraff.
"It should be every footballer's ambition to play with these stars and learn from them."
Karlsruhe out to maintain form
One of the surprises of the season, last
season's second division champions Karlsruhe, are in action
against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday and Edmund Becker's side
are chasing their fourth straight win. Playmaker and top goalscorer
Hungarian midfielder Tamas Hajnal is their main threat, but
Bielefeld, after a promising start to the season, have slumped to
13th in the table after losing their last four games.
Also on Sunday, Hanover take on Wolfsburg while on Saturday defending champions VfB Stuttgart, who are in a self-confessed crisis, and coach Armin Veh will be desperate to pick up at least a point at Hamburg to stop the rot. Their north German opponents are up to fourth in the table, but are without top scorer and captain Rafael van der Vaart after the Dutchman was injured in his country's 2-0 EURO 2008 qualifying victory over Slovenia in midweek.
Third-placed Werder Bremen are at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday with coach Thomas Schaaf welcoming back midfielder Tim Borowski, goalkeeper Tim Wiese, strikers Ivan Klasnic and Boubacar Sanogo and Brazilian playmaker Carlos Albert. Bremen are in form with only UEFA Champions League defeats by Real Madrid and Olympiacos blotting their copy book over the last six games.
In contrast, Hertha have slumped from second position to mid-table after picking up just a point in their last three games.
Also on Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen host Borussia Dortmund while struggling German Cup holders Nuremberg host seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.
Fifth-placed Schalke are at Hansa Rostock, who are looking to continue their improved form having won three of their last four games.
On Friday night, bottom-of-the-table Energie Cottbus and fellow strugglers Duisburg slug it out for badly needed points.
