Brest have confirmed the sacking of coach Landry Chauvin.

The Brittany club have slipped into the Ligue 1 relegation zone after just one win, and six points, in their last 10 games. They are currently two points adrift of safety with eight games remaining.

And a statement on the club's official website this morning read: "Stade Brestois recognise a series of bad results which have put the club's Ligue 1 survival in peril. "This situation has led Michel Guyot, president of Stade Brestois, after consultation with the principal directors, to separate from coach Landry Chauvin. The club's directors will advise very soon on the appointment of a new coach."

Brest's home form has been particularly poor, with no wins and only three draws from their last nine games, and Guyot admitted that played a key role in forcing his hand.

Guyot told the club website: "It was a difficult decision to take. We always want to build for the long term but unfortunately the weight of sporting results affects any goodwill. We have not won at home since 17 November and are currently in the relegation zone.

"Obviously the responsibility for this difficult season does not rest solely on the shoulders of Landry Chauvin but there are no other options available with eight games remaining. I explained myself to Landry and saluted his professionalism and the work he did for us, but he has not lived up to our shared high hopes."
