River Plate went top of the Argentinian Clausura table with a 2-1 win over struggling Colon Santa Fe on Sunday.

David Trezeguet gave River Plate the lead after 12 minutes and Leonardo Ponzio doubled the advantage 11 minutes before half-time.

River, after their fourth win in five matches, lead with 12 points from five matches. They are a point ahead of Godoy Cruz and two in front of Lanus, who can reclaim the lead with a win at home to Arsenal on Monday.
