PSV Eindhoven coach Dick Advocaat is relieved his side have returned to winning ways in the Eredivisie ahead of this weekend's trip to Heerenveen.

After being beaten 2-1 at Feyenoord on February 24, table-toppers PSV got back on track in the league by defeating strugglers VVV-Venlo at home last Saturday. Advocaat admits his team were "not in the best shape" as they registered a 2-0 victory against VVV, but was satisfied overall with a result secured by goals from Memphis Depay in the third minute and Mark van Bommel in the 90th.

Advocaat said: "You can not win every game with big numbers. We were not in the best shape, but you can not say that we did not want it enough. It was difficult. We started well. I had said that we had to make it 1-0 as soon as possible and that is what happened."

"You think your opponent will then come out of their cave, but they did not," Advocaat added. "VVV remained focused and defended sharply. We had control, and the longer it took, the more effective our football was. We just about deserved to win, partly because our organisation was good."

Going into Saturday's encounter with Heerenveen, PSV are two points clear of second-placed Ajax, who host PEC Zwolle on Sunday.
