Brest will be without Paul Baysse for the remainder of the season after the defender ruptured his cruciate knee ligaments in yesterday's friendly against CFA side Plabennec.

The 24-year-old was forced off after only seven minutes and was replaced by Tripy Makonda.

Scans have shown a rupture of the anterolateral cruciate ligaments of Baysse's left knee, the club today confirmed on their official website.

Their statement added: "Given the severity of his injury, his season is undoubtedly over."

Brest won the game 2-1 with two goals from Dutch striker Charlison Benschop.
