Danny excited by creative, attacking Hulk
"Hulk and I are both attacking-style footballers," Danny told the Soviet Sport newspaper today. "Individually, he's a very strong player and can beat almost any defender one-on-one and create scoring chances single-handedly.
"It's very interesting to play with such a creative partner and I hope after my complete recovery our attacking partnership will bring Zenit a lot of benefits and wins."
The 29-year-old, who is battling back to full fitness after a series of injuries since February, added that he was hoping to resume training with the Zenit squad next week. "I've already overcame my knee injury completely but unfortunately suffered a muscle pull right after I returned to regular training. But I believe I will be able to return to the ranks in the near future."
Zenit grabbed their first UEFA Champions League win on Wednesday, beating Belgian side Anderlecht 1-0 with a Alexander Kerzhakov penalty, and are currently fourth in the Russian Premier League.
The club has been rocked in recent weeks by discord in the team over the salaries paid to big-money signings Hulk and Belgium's Axel Witsel that led to Russia captain Igor Denisov being dropped to train with the youth team.
But Danny said he was confident the row would be settled soon. "Denisov is an excellent player and one of our team's charismatic leaders, who mattered very much for the club" he told the daily. "I believe he will be able to settle his disagreement with the club chiefs pretty soon to return into the first squad."
