Jefferson Montero's fine equaliser earned Monarcas Morelia a 1-1 draw in their home clash with Jaguares in the Apertura on Thursday.

Edgar Andrade fired Jaguares ahead in the 34th minute when he took on a smart cross-field pass and shot past goalkeeper Federico Vilar from 15 yards.

Yet the lead lasted less than 90 seconds, with Montero left unmarked 10 yards from goal to meet a looping cross from the right and crack a powerful right-footed volley into the top right corner.

Monarcas stand eighth after 11 rounds of games in the 18-team division, with Jaguares 13th.
