Vegalta move clear, Tulio hits four
Brazilian striker Wilson struck home an equaliser to give Vegalta Sendai a 2-2 draw with Yokohama F Marinos and lift his side to the top of the J.League.
Wilson netted from the spot with only three minutes left on the clock. Earlier, Sendai had taken a lead thanks to defender Toshihiko Uchiyama's header in the 59th minute, but former international Shunsuke Nakamura and Takashi Kanai made it 2-1 for Yokohama.
Vegalta regained a one-point lead on 38 points over Sanfrecce Hiroshima, who watched their one-goal lead tumble into a 2-1 defeat by Shimizu S-Pulse, giving their opponents their first win in ten games.
They were followed by Urawa Red Diamonds on 35 points, Kashiwa Reysol on 34 points, and Nagoya Grampus on 32 points. Urawa lost their two-goal lead gained by Tomoya Ugajin and Brazilian Marcio Richardes as FC Tokyo made it 2-2 in the second half thanks to goals from Kenta Mukuhara and Ariajasuru Hasegawa.
Defending champions Kashiwa were also held to a 1-1 draw by Albirex Niigata as Brazilian Jorge Wagner's goal was cancelled out by Kisho Yano. Japan international defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka scored four goals to lead Nagoya to a 5-1 thrashing of Vissel Kobe.
In other games, seven-time champions Kashima Antlers crashed to a 2-0 defeat by Sagan Tosu, while Cerezo Osaka whipped bottom-placed Consadole Sapporo 4-0. Gamba Osaka downed Omiya Ardija 3-1, and Jubilo Iwata drew with Kawasaki Frontale 2-2.
