Daniel Didavi has agreed a three-year contract extension at Stuttgart.
The 22-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan at Bundesliga rivals Nurnberg, but has returned to Stuttgart to pen a deal until at least 2016.
"I came through the youth teams at Stuttgart and received my football training here, breaking into the professionals here," said Didavi on the club's website. "I am very happy that I can now take the next step in my career here."
Stuttgart director of sport Fredi Bobic, who turned down Nurnberg's bid to keep Didavi for another year, added: "We are delighted that Daniel has signed a long-term contract with us. He is a player from our own production belt who has improved a lot and has a great deal of potential."
Didavi will not feature for Stuttgart at the start of the new season after he picked up a serious knee injury in his last game for Nurnberg.
He underwent surgery last month and is likely to be sidelined until January.
