Australia captain Lucas Neill could be set for a return home to the A-League after being released by United Arab Emirates club Al Jazira.

Neill was released after weeks of speculation over his future with the Gulf club, who also confirmed they have sacked their Brazilian coach Caio Junior.

Neill's availability will no doubt interest several A-League clubs, and the former Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United defender has already been linked with Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.

Neill is currently on international duty with Australia and is in line to lead the side out against Denmark on Saturday.
