Striker Julian Schieber has turned down the offer of a new contract with Stuttgart.

The 23-year-old had been offered an extended stay until 2016 but told the club's director of sport Fredi Bobic that his current deal, which has a year left to run on it, will be the last with the club.

"It is a big shame," said Bobic on Stuttgart's website. "We regret Julian's decision since he was a major component of our plans. We have now got to get over it and look at other options immediately."

Schieber made 18 appearances for the Swabians in the season just ended, scoring three goals after a successful one-year loan spell in Nurnberg, where he found the back of the net seven times in 29 games.
