Sporting Lisbon kept alive their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification with a 2-1 victory over struggling Academica.

The home side took the lead on the half-hour mark through Andre Carillo, but an Anderson Polga own goal pulled the scores level just before the interval.

Sporting regained the advantage, though, thanks to a Ricky van Wolfswinkel strike 13 minutes from time, and managed to keep their noses in front this time to move within three points of the top three with two matches remaining.

Defeat leaves Academica in the bottom two, one point from safety.
