Velez Sarsfield moved to within a point of the Argentinian Clausura summit with a 2-0 win over Estudiantes.

Federico Insua and Juan Manuel Martinez got the goals in the first half which enabled the visitors to climb three places and make ground on pacesetters Boca Juniors and Newell's Old Boys.

Lanus moved into mid-table with a 3-1 home success over Racing Club. Carlos Izquierdoz and Mariano Pavone gave Lanus a two-goal interval lead and Silvio Romero wrapped up the points in the 65th minute, before substitute Valentin Viola pulled a goal back five minutes from the end.
